With a recorded growth of 17% in 2011 and a stable economy based on oil and Gas, Qatar is currently the strongest financial place in Middle East.
Due to this Economic boom, my client, one of the leading Banks in Qatar is currently looking to recruit a Head of Purchasing, who will be responsible for developing a “best in class” centralized purchasing function serving the Bank and its subsidiaries.
Position is based in Doha, Qatar
Main responsibilities will include:
- Set up and implement a Corporate Purchasing strategy, in line with the Bank objectives
- Review and update current purchasing and supply policies. Establish standard processes and Best practices within the Group
- Develop cost efficiency tactics, including centralizing of purchasing and payments processes, computerisation and evolution of printing methods
- Develop and maintain good relationship with key suppliers
- Monitor the suppliers list: Review, update or renegotiate existing agreements
- Implement automated purchasing systems and efficient vendor management policies
- Build, lead and develop an effective Purchasing Team through communication, performance management, development plans, and timely feedback and reward and recognition practices
- Bachelor’s degree in related field. Certification such as Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply or National Association of Purchasing Managers will be a plus
- 10 to 15 years experience in purchasing functions, with minimum 3 years in the banking/ financial sector
- Relevant purchasing expertise in IT, Property, Facilities management services, Marketing Services and Travel Services
- Strong managerial exposure
- Excellent negotiation, leadership and relationship building skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (mandatory) and Arabic (preferred)
