My client, one of the fastest growing Banks in Qatar is currently looking to recruit an Operational Risk Manager who will be responsible for designing and implementing an effective operational risk framework within the bank.
Position is based in Doha, Qatar
Key responsibilities
-Ensure that all identified operational risks of each business unit are mitigated by adequate controls through proper risk assessment methodologies.
-Conduct regular tests on effectiveness of controls and share the results with the Management
- Support regular risk monitoring and reporting to business and risk committees through the use of Key Risk Indicators, trend analysis and incident follow-up
-Ensure full compliance with Basel II and all relevant regulatory requirements
-Set up and manage the Banks operational loss events database by identifying and recording control gaps, accountabilities and policy violations. Report severity events to the Head of operational Risk and follow-up with corrective actions
- Follow up and monitor all risk-related actions identified through internal / external audits and regulatory reviews
-Identify process improvements and make recommendations to Senior Management
-Provide recommendations and corrective measures in any new or existing product or policies and procedures
- Actively participate in the review and approval process by identifying control weaknesses or process gaps
Experience and skills required
- Bachelor Degree in Banking, Finance or related subject; Master/MBA will be an added
- 8 to 10 years experience in risk management in banking or finance
- Very good knowledge of risk tools and International regulations
- Strong analytical skills, eye for details
- Excellent relationship building and communication skills in English (mandatory) and Arabic (preferred)
