Safety Engineer - Doha, Qatar
The Operations department is responsible for operating the Company's Qatar offshore production installations.
The open position is an onshore position in the Production department responsible for a safe and efficient offshore operation including high standards within technical, economical and environmental aspects. The operation covers a wide range of activities directly and indirectly related to oil and gas production and the transfer of safety aspects to a robust management system is implied for contribution to a safe execution.
The Safety Engineer reports to the Head of Production Support.
In this position, 10 to 15 offshore days per year are to be expected.
The company is committed to an incident free operation and the position will be widely involved in facilitating and implementing new initiatives to support this commitment.
Enhance safety culture in close cooperation with Operations Management according to applying strategies
Initiate and facilitate production of new procedures and update existing procedures
Initiate and facilitate gap analysis of existing procedures towards corporate framework and mandatory requirements
Facilitate and participate in technical studies and reviews
Ensure high quality incident reporting, investigation and close out
By involvement of relevant parties, ensure full alignment between management system and offshore praxis
Ensure technical content in documents is correct and technically sound
Facilitate Operations intranet procedure portal
Initiate and facilitate scheduled review of existing procedures
Initiate production of generic offshore HSE activity programs
Identify areas for improvement and develop new initiatives within area of responsibility
Responsible for internal and external communication related to Operations HSE
Support the Production Manager in developing the safety culture within Operations
Ensure timely preparation of all documentation related to offshore HSE activities
Proven knowledge of hydro carbon production and associated activities
Sound knowledge in process safety systems design
Sound knowledge of Process Safety, Occupational Safety and Auditing
Sound knowledge of industry best practices and international standards
Knowledge of management systems with an emphasis on management of change and culture
Genuine interest in enhancing the quality within all aspects of safety
Sound knowledge of qualitative and quantitative Risk Assessment, Hazid and Hazop
Good interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively work within a multi-disciplinary and multi-national team
Good communication skills to effectively disseminate knowledge about HSE management
Proficient with reporting and report writing
Able to work independently, have a structured approach and be conscious of delivering high quality solutions
Ability to accomplish tasks with minimal supervision and a high level of initiative
Efficient in time management and the ability to concurrently handle multiple tasks at the same time
Education & Experience
The successful candidate will hold a Masters Degree in Engineering, Process Engineer or Marine Engineer, from a recognized institution with relevant years relevant experience.
Excellent verbal and written English skills are imperative in this position.
